According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Rayan Cherki remains on the radar of Real Madrid. And the reigning La Liga champions have secured a verbal agreement for the 19-year-old sensation. Such a deal will entail Los Blancos matching any bid for the Lyon wonderkid.

Rayan Cherki has been with Lyon since joining the club’s famed academy as a seven-year-old in 2010. The French whizkid subsequently rose through the ranks at the French outfit before making his first-team debut in October 2019. And while there have been reports about some attitude issues, he has become a regular for Lyon.

The 19-year-old is enjoying a decent 2022/23 season, amassing three goals and three assists in 22 outings thus far. Cherki’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

The teenage sensation has been on Real Madrid’s radar since Zinedine Zidane’s days at the club. And the reigning La Liga champions remain interested in Cherki. And while he is primarily an attacking midfielder, he can also play on either flank equally adeptly. So the interest makes a world of sense.
